To promote a safe environment for pupils, our selection and recruitment policy includes all checks on staff and regular volunteers’ suitability, including criminal records checks. We comply with all current guidance and legislation and aim to surpass these expectations by following the best practices of all top British international schools. In compliance with the British School Overseas (BSO) framework, we adhere to regular updates from the Department for Education in the UK through the ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance issued annually to advise schools like Kent College West Cairo.
In accordance with our responsibilities, we have a designated safeguarding lead (DSL), who is Ms Katie Alexander, the Head of Early Years, and a deputy designated safeguarding lead (DDSL), who is Mr James Greenwood, who is the Head of Primary. They are experienced school leaders who receive regular updated training for this role. It is their responsibility to ensure that all staff in contact with children receive child protection awareness and safeguarding training on a regular basis at Kent College West Cairo.
