Who is Mr. Robin Silk?
Head Of College
I was educated at the Duke of York’s Royal Military School and London University, where I graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in History. My professional journey began at EY in London before I completed my teacher training at the University of Cambridge and I later earned an MBA from the Open University.
The first ten years of my teaching career were spent in independent schools in the UK, where I taught History, coached rugby, hockey, football and cricket to a high level and led outdoor pursuits, trips and expeditions across the globe.
For the past 18 years, I have served as a head or principal, establishing and transforming schools across Africa, Asia, Europe and South America. One of my proudest achievements was reopening a school in England after its closure. Alongside my leadership roles, I have continued to teach History, Global Perspectives, Business Studies and Theory of Knowledge for the IB Diploma, while also coaching sport and leading mountain and jungle expeditions.
I also advise UK independent schools on overseas start-ups, serve as a governor of an international school and work as both an ISI Inspector and a COBIS Patrons Accreditor.
I am married with two grown-up daughters and have a lifelong passion for travel and the outdoors. I have visited over 120 countries, lived in 10 and remain an avid cyclist and qualified mountain and expedition leader. The mountains and the Derbyshire Dales, where my family is based, hold a special place in my heart.
I am excited to be joining Kent College West Cairo and look forward to working with the team to help the school grow, thrive and inspire our community in the years ahead.
